Great Central Railway Society
About the Society
The Great Central Railway (the ‘GCR’) comprised a considerable network including the last Victorian main line opened in the United Kingdom, its London extension opening in 1899. The Great Central Railway Society is dedicated to and promotes all aspects of the Great Central Railway, its predecessors, successors and joint lines.

The Society, with around 500 members, acts in part as an umbrella organisation for those interested in the GCR. It organises its own extensive programme of meetings, and also publicises on its website the meetings of other railway clubs in towns along the former GCR route, its general philosophy being one of co-operation between all groups with an interest in GCR heritage.
