Gresley Society Trust

About the Society

​

The Gresley Society Trust studies and celebrates the life and works of Sir Nigel Gresley as well as the works and achievements of the London & North Eastern Railway and associated railways.

​

The Society owns and operates the oldest extant Gresley locomotive in the world, Great Northern Railway class N2 number 1744.  It also owns buffet lounge car No 1852, one of only two such vehicles built in 1938 for the ‘Flying Scotsman’ train.

​
